Heavy Galleon 1: Motochika Chosokabe(Feudal Saddle)1701 Ashigaru, 1000 Samurai, 500 Chosokabe Archers, 400 Monks, 249 Ninja, 150 Engineers, 1 Siege Ramp Heavy Galleon 2: Nobuchika Chosokabe1702 Ashigaru, 1000 Samurai, 500 Chosokabe Archers, 400 Monks, 248 Ninja, 150 Engineers ------------ Shortly after Motochika had conquered Tosa, a meeting that was unexpected had changed the course he was about to take, and now he too was doing the unexpected. His son, Nobuchika, thought it odd for him to give such a order, despite his reasons, and the fact that it was also fun to see where they'd end up.
Many wondered and thought to themselves, where they were going, but if the seas could lead Zhuge Liang to him to help him unite the land, then surely the seas would lead him to his next step towards that goal. The waves pushed the ships from side-to-side. Sometimes they were in a straight line, whereas other times they were going all over the place.
It was then a sound and horn was hard afterwards, "Land Ahead!", as Motochika left his ship quarters which weren't as luxurious as those back on Tosa, before going up to the horn-blower, "Do we know where we are?", he asked. "We've kept a record of our movements milord" as he held his hand out as another guard with a parchment came rushing to him, before hornblower opened it out to reveal a map of Japan with the drawn lines visible. "Not to scale, but we're closing in towards the Northeast of Kyushu. Bungo province, telling by the landscape".
Motochika looked to the map and then up to the land ahead, "You have done well, very well", as he walked to the ships' bowel, looking onwards with his shamisen resting on his shoulders. It seemed the mainland was not yet ready to face the Chosokabe just now, or they were not ready to face the mainland yet. Either way, looking onwards, their next target was straight ahead and it would be them who would feel the strength of the Chosokabe.
On Shikoku, he had to face the weak Icjiro, the raiding Sogo, the struggling Kono, and the slow Miyoshi. Here on Kyushu however, was much more contest. The major clans was that of the Otomo and the Shimazu. It was the battle with the Shimazu that would indeed be challenging. Not to mention the Shimazu's sworn enemy, the Tachibana, but now they faced the Otomo. Once the Otomo were removed, the Chosokabe would surely of left their mark on Kyushu, seeing as they were highly influential, yet what they had on their side, was the element of surprise.
"It is time for the Chosokabe to make our mark! Sound horns! Fire Cannons! Show them we're here! Make...as much noise as you like! Haha"
[Theme Music]
The cannons set off into the sky at a high altitude in order for their attacks to go furthur. Surely the Otomo, for how influential they were, would have some guards on duty to notice it. It was not late at night, it was evening, but if he was to have any impact on Kyushu, he had to prove himself and make a big show of this. Infact, while they were at it, they could wipe out the Otomo completely, seeing as they not only controlled Bungo, but Buzen to the North aswell. With the cannons, the ship, the raging waves, and the Chosokabe Archers, they'd all fall prey to the Chosokabe's might! Actions: The Chosokabe arrive outside Bungo early evening. In order to lure out the Otomo, horns are blown and cannons are fired from both ships.

(OOC: I'd hope that someone would of picked up Shimazu, Tachibana or at least Sorin by now. They have not -.- Also to note is that Otomo will be defending Bungo, but it is not Sorin. Because I'd rather have someone sign up as him. Thus this shall be a Random Otomo NPC. There shall also be a much larger force defending because of the serious disadvantages they shall face against the Chosokabe, Simon )
Turn Results: Chosokabe Motochika and his son set forth for Bungo. A land defended by the Otomo Clan. When the seas carry them close enough the Chosokabe open fire with their 2 Heavy Galleon, which have a cannon mounted already on them. The shells rain down around a field and one hits close to a fort. The fort is where the Otomo Clan is defending, although some of the troops are not all inside the fort.
Troop Counts:
Chosokabe- Heavy Galleon 1: Motochika Chosokabe(Feudal Saddle) 1701 Ashigaru, 1000 Samurai, 500 Chosokabe Archers, 400 Monks, 249 Ninja, 150 Engineers, 1 Siege Ramp
Heavy Galleon 2: Nobuchika Chosokabe 1702 Ashigaru, 1000 Samurai, 500 Chosokabe Archers, 400 Monks, 248 Ninja, 150 Engineers
Otomo- Random Otomo NPC 6,000 Ashigaru, 4,000 Samurai, 1,000 Archers

(OOC: Hopefully I do have a Shimazu or Tachibana to go against, though beggars can't be choosers) As the two ships caused a racket for Bungo, Motochika looked on, seeing if any troops were coming, "Either we are not making enough noice.....or the Otomo are too afraid to come out from their curtains!", Motochika bellowed, before moving down to where the cannons were, shouting, "Aim higher!", so that Nobuchika's ship would also hear and follow suit, though the sad news was that he couldn't push the cannon too far back as it would go into the air and fall straight down to them.
It was probably a bad idea to try and lure them out, but until they had a footing in Kyushu, they now had to use their firepower, and they couldn't use it well with them all staying away. Immediately after sending off a few more fires from the cannon at the new height, he then held his hand out, "Hold - fire". Afterall, they probably wouldn't come out to meet them if they continued firing.
Motochika returned to the ship's forward bowel, looking out for enemy troops. If they thought they were going to come out, then they were out of their minds. If they had attacked the Mori, they would no doubt of been in some action now. Even the Shimazu would of caused a ruckass to show how strong they were. If they didn't show, then he'd have to refer to other means. He had no intention of retreating, that was for sure. If they lost or retreated to the likes of the Otomo, then everything they had achieved would be for naught.
He begun to wonder more about the Otomo. If Bungo was their main force, then Buzen would be weaker, yet he could not risk sending Nobuchika there without endangering his men or the men with him. What would Zhuge Liang do...? as he glanced over to Nobuchika who too was waiting for the enemy to come.

[Theme Music]"No sign of the enemy approaching sir", the guard announced, stating the obvious, as Motochika was looking out himself with his right foot on the edge of the forward bowel of the ship, "What...a...shame! I was hoping to have a welcome party right now!", sighing.
He moved away from the foot, and went into his cabin, wrote a letter onto a piece of parchment, before taking a Chosokabe Flag that rested in the chamber, a spare one o'course, and etching the note on it with some needle and string, a little trick his mother had shown him back when he was young.
Once he was done, he came out and went straight to the engineers who were controlling the cannon, "I want you to send this over to the enemy. I want it seen, but I don't want it on fire. Understood?", as the engineers nodded as some of them rushed to the front to measure what angle was needed for it to reach the fort, before rushing back.
Motochika walked to his ninja unit, "Your stealth abilities knows no bounds. I want 50 of you to disembark and scout the area. I want to know where the enemy is. If they are too afraid to come out, then we'll give them the fright of their lives", as the ninjas nodded, and almost simulataneously, saw the requested amount vanish. They sure acted quick.
He returned to the front of the boat. There was no chance that he'd risk going on land, without knowing what was beyond it. Timed perfectly, what the cannon, as he looked up and saw his flag soar into the air like a bat with wings which made him chuckle. If they would not come out, then they'd make them come out. If they wanted to hide, then they'd see where they were hidden. Motochika was not one to mess with. Actions: Motochika sends 50 ninja from his vessel, followed by 50 ninja from Nobuchika's vessel, each scouting one side each and remaining in stealth mode as they see where any enemies lie, or if there are any traps about. If spotted, their goal would be to -disappear- before continuing on with their mission.
Meanwhile, a Chosokabe flag with a letter upon it, is shot out Motochika's cannon, aiming for those in the fort. The note upon it, is below.

Turn Results: Chosokabe Motochika dispatches a ninja scout unit. Their orders are to gather information on the enemy location and such. They find that the town is unguarded and the civilians are locked away in their homes. It is likely that the Otomo force is locked away in the fort. A flag is shot from a cannon(WTF?) from one of the Chosokabe ships. The flag lands in front of the fort, as the fort is just out of range and one of the Otomo troops ventures out and brings the note on the flag back to the leader of the force. The Otomo begin immediate defense measures.
Troop Counts:

[Theme Music]Motochika rested himself on the front of the ship once again till the ninja returned, reporting that the civilians are in an unguarded town locked away, and that the Otomo remain in the fort. A sigh escaped Motochika's mouth, "Lord Otomo sure is boring for someone who has the people in high regard", pausing, "Well...guess he's left me with no choice. Let's disembark!".
The ships sailed furthur to shore before the steps were let down so the troops could leave the ship and stand once again on land, while Motochika went inside the ship, but to one of the officers' quarters. As he entered, he passed the guards, before opening the door and seeing Ichijo Kanesada enjoying a meal that was prepared for him.
He took the seat opposite, before looking into his eyes without saying a word, his eyes tightening into place, before leaning back, "It seems the forces of your father-in-law do not wish to play with me, and as such, I require your involvement in this battle. I had hoped to show you and the Otomo how strong the Chosokabe have come, but instead, they hide within their walls leaving their people helpless. You may of failed as a ruler, but you know that you have to do the right thing", before stepping up and leaving so he could rejoin the army, nodding to the guards so they could take him along for the ride.
Before long, the entire Chosokabe Army were clustered together on the shore, except 20 engineers on each ship to operate the cannons if needed. He mounted his horse and raced to the front before lifting his shamisen, "The time has come....if the Otomo won't come to sea, we'll bring the sea to the Otomo!", as a cheer followed.
Looking into the distance, he pondered at how this battle would fare. Once victory was theirs, and the Otomo were destroyed, Kyushu's control would be completely divided. The Otomo were like a branch of a tree, with the other clans perched onto it for their life, but once cut, they will all fall, as Motochika divided the army and made preparations(straight=movement, dotted=planned movement), making sure Icjiro was with him to watch the show at the best seat in the house, so to speak.

While his forces move accordingly an ambushed appeared in the forests that the Ninja Scout force was scouting. As the Chosokabe Army divided into 3 units, each of them preceded to their destination with Motochika taking the central route, while Nobuchika took the north route and the sub unit was designated the south. Each of them proceeded, but Motochika halted his part as the scout ninja returned, informing him of the ambushes in the forests, thereby the scout unit merges into Motochika's unit. Almost instantly, he sends 1 ninja to quickly report to Nobuchika and his lieutenant general in charge of the sub unit so that they may be aware of the ambush (seeing as it is just 1, they'd be able to race there and race back w/o trouble). Not wishing to advance his unit so soon, he halts, remaining on standby incase any of the other units need assistance.
Meanwhile, Nobuchika, after recieving his father's warning in regards to the ambush units which have obviously failed to work, he deploys his ninja to climb the treetops, while the samurai gently swade into the forest, taking the tree trunks to cover and attacking the ambush units, along with the ninja who attack from above, while Nobuchika remained with the engineers and ramp to continue the advance, albeit slowly.
The sub-unit in the meantime, has the monks use their skills and acrobats to move about the forest cautiously. Once found, they will then be intentionally found before luring them out to Chosokabe Archers' fire.

Turn Results:Chosokabe Motochika regroups his main force, with the ninja scouts, in the center between the two forests. They halt and dispatch reports to the other units, Nobuchika and south sub-unit. While the North Forest ambush gets attack by ninja from treetops and the Samurai from Nobuchika's units. Nobuchika advances forward with the rest of his Siege Party. The South Forest ambush gets attacked by the agile monks as the feign a retreat to lure them into the Chosokabe deadly Archers. "Now things, shall get interesting", he muttered under his breath, now that the Otomo had acted in having these ambushes set, being too afraid to face them in open contact. He had no choice to halt, seeing as if he moved too far forward, then the town infront of him would see him when he was not yet ready. He had every confidence that their units would succeed. Afterall, they were of the Chosokabe, they were of Shikoku, and these raging waves would not stop till his goal was realised. The Otomo were simply a stepping stone. If Kyushu was a tree, then the Otomo was the trunk, having many clans supporting them bar the rebellious Shimazu. In a way, the Shimazu reminded him of his own ways, except their ways was not exactly orthodox. With the trunk removed, it was simply a case of snapping the branches. Actions: Motochika remains stationary while Nobuchika's unit continue with their previous actions with the samurai and ninja each attacking the ambush units in their own way (samurai dashing from the trees, ninjas picking at them from above before moving onto their next victim). The subunit, having successfully lured out the ambush units into their own ambush with the Chosokabe Archers. The Archers continue their volley, while the monks use their acrobatic skills to simply go through them before getting out the way for the next volley

If they failed to take out these ambush forces now, if they ignored them, they would then of been pincered. It was important that these ambush forces were taken down, and as such, he dispatches 100 of his ninja to assist sub unit in order to help them get defeated as soon as possible......in the meanwhile, Nobuchika, seeing that the siege ramp and engineers could move no furthur with the fighting ahead, joined his fighting force himself to fight alongside his troops.

"You are all wasting your time. The Otomo have locked themselves in their fort leaving the people of Bungo vulnerable. We can keep this charade if you wish, but either way, it will be us that will be victorious. Let's end all this now and join together", Nobuchika bellowed out as he fought, and then took cover, with the same thing happening again again and again, hoping he would succeed. All their fighting was doing was delaying the inevitable. If they could end it now, then they could move on.
In the meantime, Motochika remained seated upon his horse, glancing up, debating whether he should move again. If there was anything positive in this halt, the Chosokabe troops were becoming stronger and the longer the troops remained in the fort, supplies would be slim, being cut off from the rest of the province. It was all coming together quite nicely.
